My little family has needed new stockings for a little while now. but after we built the barn doors (from this post here), it was official, I needed something a bit more “fun”to match our new look. (This was our old look).
I thought you might like the pattern in case you would like to make some yourself.
I went with colors that would pop with our doors…
Get started by cutting out your stockings using the pattern provided here:
Cut out a strip of fabric 2″ x 28″ for the ruffle.
Sew the main body, right sides together. Turn it right side out.
Machine or hand embroider the name in the center of one of the top pieces. I used Harrington Font. You can find it free here. You can also purchase a machine embroidery pattern for Harrington here.
Place quilter’s cotton batting on the back side of each top piece. Sew edges, right sides together. Serge or zig zag the bottom of the tub you have just sewn so that it won’t fray.
Sew the top of the stocking to the body of the stocking so that when you flip the top down, you will be able to see the name but not the hem.
Serge or hem the edges of the ruffle. Gather. Sew to the bottom of the top section.
Sew the long sides of the hanging loop together. Turn it inside out and flatten. Sew to top corner, opposite the toe.
That’s it! Enjoy your new stockings & have a wonderful Christmas!
See you soon dear friends!
