I have had some requests for a DIY on how to make your own so I thought I would share that with you today…

You will need:

Shape the wire into a circle approximately  an inch larger (all the way around) than the doily.  Wrap the wire around at least 3-5 times.  Twisting it around itself at the end to hold it.  Cut off any extra wire with the wire cutters.

hint:If you would prefer, pre-made metal hoops are available for purchase from most craft stores.

Cut off a generous length of thin yarn.  Using a square not, tie it onto the wire circle.

Holding the yarn to the left of the wire, take the end over and under the wire & take it through the loop you created.

Pull the yarn tightly until it hits the previous knot.

This will create a spiral around the wire as you continue.

Keep going until you use the entire length of yarn.

Tie a new length of thread onto the wire over the end of the last piece & continue the spiral pattern with the new piece.

Repeat this as many times as needed.  Covering all of the end pieces as you reach the beginning.

Cut off any extra ends sticking out.

Use the extra length to make a loop.  Tie a few knots to finish it off and cut off the length.

Place the doily in the center of the hoop on a flat surface.

Thread the crochet thread onto a needle and tie a knot in the end.

Sew through the threads on the back of the hoop,

then through the doily like this:

continue to sew around the hoop & through the doily until you have gone all of the way around.

Be careful not to pull to tightly until you have gone all of the way around.

When you are finished, adjust accordingly.  You want the doily to be tight & even in the circle.  Knot the thread to the back of the hoop.

Use the thread to sew your desired lace, beads, ribbons, charms, & feathers in place.
