Most people don’t know this about me but I absolutely LOVE glassware.
I save it, collected it, & use it in all kinds of decorating adventures from dinner parties to tablescapes.
You will see how completely in love with glassware I am soon when I share with you my newly decorated kitchen…
it fills my open shelves quite nicely…;-)
Today’s guest post is written by Lisa Morton a Free-lance writer from Brighton, England.
She is going to share with us some wonderful ideas for using glassware as gift ideas.
Marking the Occasion – Fine Glassware for All Purposes
There’s one glaring problem that comes with all generic gift choices and it’s the way they convey pretty much zero thought and sentiment. Think of any special occasion across the board and chances are a dozen or so gift ideas usually come to mind which although technically pleasant in their own right aren’t really what you’d call inspiring. From flowers to alcohol to chocolates to stuffed animals to gift vouchers and plenty more besides, universally welcome as they may be they don’t drive home much of a message.
However, there’s one exception to the rule that doesn’t often get explored – fine glassware. True, you might think of giving glasses more as something of a housewarming present or as a retirement gift for seniors, but there are actually thousands of amazing gift choices out there that are not only fool-proof, but guaranteed to covey the right message.
Take the following examples of how and when stunning glassware can be used to mark the occasion:
Trying to pick a gift for a couple that’s supposed to be having the most memorable day of their lives brings the kind of pressure that’s enough to strike fear into anyone. In needs to be thoughtful, tasteful and something they can keep forever. So, why not a pair of elegant champagne glasses the likes of which stand alone as unlike any others they’ll have in their collection? Whether to be used or just kept for ornamental purposes, there is absolutely no chance of such a gesture being welcomed with anything other than pure delight.
The same technically applies to the Christening of a baby as this is another one in a lifetime occasion that calls for something more than a little bit special. So whether you believe an ornamental vase or a colorful crystal tumbler more really doesn’t matter, the result is the same – a keepsake to commemorate the occasion and to be passed to the child as they grow up.
Not to put too fine a point on it, there are some birthdays that kids just can’t wait to reach but once they’ve passed we’d do anything to bring them back again. As such, when a youngster is turning 21, there’s no better time to invest in something for them to both celebrate in style and hold onto for life. Gifts like fine-cut whiskey glasses, beer glasses and anything else of a similar nature just couldn’t be more appropriate for almost anyone.
And finally, there’s always a good excuse for a bit of romance and it doesn’t have to be a special occasion to call for something special. So instead of once again just going for that standard bottle of wine, why not go the extra mile and take home a pair of stunning and ornate crystal wine glasses to show a real message of thought to a partner? After all, it never feels quite right drinking fine Champagne out of a coffee mug.
