My Mother-in-law has made these amazing homemade almond joy bars for years.

I thought that they would be really fun to share with all of you…

It turns out she got the recipe from an old friend

{one of my husband’s best friend’s Mom}

I am always blown away with what a small world it is.

They are so yummy and taste better than the candy bars, maybe because they are so fresh.

I decided to make a Mounds and an Almond Joy version.

Almond Joy Bars

  1. 1 12oz pkg. chocolate chips
  2. 2 envelopes unflavored gelatin
  3. 4 Tbsp vegetable oil
  4. 2 14g, pkg. of coconut
  5. 3 cans condensed milk
  6. 1 pkg. almonds or 1 c. slivered
  1. Melt 1 pkg. of chocolate chips and i Tbsp oil in a medium sized boil. Microwave for a minute then 30 seconds at a time. Stir in between until melted.
  2. Pour into a 9X13 inch pan lined with wax paper.
  3. Refrigerate until cool & hard.
  4. Cook condensed milk and gelatin to boiling, stirring constantly.
  5. Put the coconut into a large bowl. Add the milk mixture. Stir well.
  6. Spread the mixture over the cooled chocolate.
  7. Cool
  8. Mix the remaining chips the same way. Spread it over the coconut.
  9. Cool completely and cut into squares..
